Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026

Cerulean Chemistry ("we," "us," or "our") operates ceruleanchemistry.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or contact us, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We are based in Orem, Utah and serve clients nationwide.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Beyond standard server logs described below, we only collect what you voluntarily submit. When you fill out our project inquiry form (processed by Netlify, our website host) or contact us by email, you may provide:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your company or brand name
  • Details about your product development project, including product type, budget range, and timeline
  • Any other information you choose to include in your message

You are never required to provide personal information to browse this website.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider, Netlify, may collect standard server log data when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is used for security and operational purposes and is not used to identify you personally. We do not use Netlify Analytics or any paid analytics add-on beyond standard server logs.

We use Apollo.io, a business-to-business website visitor analytics service, to understand which companies and visitors engage with our site so we can follow up on genuine business inquiries. Apollo loads a tracking script on every page and may set cookies and collect technical information — such as your IP address, the pages you view, and your approximate location — which it uses to identify the organization associated with a visit. We do not use advertising cookies, ad networks, or behavioral advertising platforms such as Google Analytics. Apollo's processing of this information is governed by its own Privacy Policy, available at apollo.io/privacy-policy.

Cookies and local storage

Aside from the Apollo.io visitor tracking described above, which loads only after you opt in and may then set cookies to recognize visits, our website does not use advertising cookies. The dark mode toggle on this site stores your display preference using your browser's localStorage — this data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us. Other than the Apollo.io tracker, we do not set additional cookies or local storage values.

Apollo.io is disabled by default. On your first visit you will see a cookie banner, and Apollo loads only if you choose "Accept" — no Apollo script runs and no Apollo cookie is set until you do. You can change your decision at any time, including withdrawing consent you previously gave, using the control below. Withdrawing consent stops Apollo from loading on subsequent page views and clears the Apollo cookies we are able to remove from this domain.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we respect it. Because we do not engage in behavioral advertising or sell your personal information, these signals do not materially change how we operate, but we acknowledge and honor the intent.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you submit solely to:

  • Respond to your project inquiry and evaluate whether we are a good fit for your needs
  • Communicate with you about your project if you become a client
  • Send you information you specifically request

We do not use the information you submit for marketing to unrelated third parties, sell it to data brokers, or use it for automated decision-making of any kind.

3. Form Processing and Email Providers

Our project inquiry form is processed by Netlify (Netlify, Inc.), which also hosts this website. When you submit the form, your responses are stored by Netlify and delivered to us by email. Netlify's handling of this data is governed by its own Privacy Policy, available at netlify.com/privacy.

We use Google Workspace (Gmail) to receive and manage email correspondence, including form notifications. Google may store your data on servers located outside of Utah and outside of the United States, in accordance with Google's data transfer and storage practices; Google's Privacy Policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. If you are located outside the U.S., please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from your own.

By submitting our inquiry form or contacting us by email, you acknowledge that your information will be handled by these providers in addition to us.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use Netlify for website hosting and inquiry form processing, Google Workspace (Gmail) for communication, and Apollo.io for website visitor analytics. These providers access information only as necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own data protection commitments.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal process such as a court order or subpoena.
  • Business transfers. If Cerulean Chemistry is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We retain project inquiry submissions and email correspondence for as long as necessary to support an active or potential client relationship, typically no more than three years after our last substantive contact. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Utah residents (UCPA)

Utah residents have the following rights under the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA):

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Request a copy of your personal information in a portable format
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of any sale of your personal information — we do not sell personal information

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@ceruleanchemistry.com. We will respond within 45 days. For complex or high-volume requests, we may extend this period by an additional 45 days and will notify you if an extension is needed.

Residents of other states and countries

We serve clients across the United States and occasionally internationally. Regardless of where you are located — including California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, or the European Union — we will honor equivalent privacy requests: the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. Submit your request to hello@ceruleanchemistry.com and we will respond within 45 days.

EU/UK and California residents

EU, EEA, and UK visitors. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis for loading Apollo.io and setting its analytics cookies is your consent under Article 6(1)(a). Apollo does not run unless you opt in through our cookie banner, and you may withdraw that consent at any time using the "Manage cookie preferences" control in the "Cookies and local storage" section above — withdrawing is as easy as granting consent and does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). We engage Apollo.io as a "service provider" as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Apollo is contractually restricted from using the information it processes on our behalf for its own purposes. We do not "sell" your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may exercise their rights to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of their personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@ceruleanchemistry.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

Our website and services are directed at business owners and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect the information we hold, including using HTTPS encryption on our website and limiting access to inquiry data to the Cerulean Chemistry team. Inquiry and email data processed through Google Workspace is protected by Google's own security controls, including encryption at rest and in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active clients directly. Continued use of our website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
